Headroom is not the constraint here.
Post 2000 Lehi garages were framed with the headroom, the sideroom and the ceiling structure a standard lift torsion setup expects, and frequently with more ceiling than that. The constraint that dominates an install in the older cities, which is whether the opening can physically take the door at all, mostly isn't the constraint here. What replaces it's a set of genuine choices about weight, insulation, opener load and what you want the garage to do for the next fifteen years.
If your garage has two doors, a double and a single, they're different widths, they take different springs, and they won't necessarily be offered in the same finish forever. If you replace one and keep the other, the two won't match each other as closely as they did when both were new, because the one that stays has had years of Utah sun on it. That's worth deciding on deliberately rather than discovering after the delivery.
The upgrade most Lehi households are actually considering is going from the builder grade single layer steel door that came with the house to a two or three layer insulated one. My builder door still works. Is there a reason to replace it?
There can be, and the reasons are usually noise, temperature and rigidity rather than failure. A single layer steel door drums, holds no temperature and dents easily. Where there's living space above or beside the garage, an insulated door is noticeably quieter and far more stable. If none of that bothers you, the door isn't a problem and you'll be told so.
I am replacing one of my two doors. Will they match?
The design can usually be matched if the series is still made. The finish is the harder half, because the door that stays has aged in the sun and the new one has not. On a three car garage where both doors are in view at once, that difference shows more than it would on a single door. Worth settling before the order rather than after the delivery.
Can I get high lift track in my garage?
If the ceiling has the height for it, yes, and post 2000 Lehi garages often do. High lift runs the door further up the wall before the track turns, which clears the space where overhead storage or a lift would go. It has to be decided before the track goes up, because it's a different hardware package and not a later adjustment.
My garage has a room over it. Does that change the install?
It changes what is worth choosing rather than what will fit. An insulated door and a quiet drive make a real difference to a room above a garage, because most of what you hear up there's the door panel drumming and the drive running a few feet from the joists. The door still fits either way. It's the choice that changes.
